Attached are photos of a Soviet scabbard I bought many years ago, which someone has added 'trench art' featuring the 1980 Olympic games in Moscow.

Re: 1980's 'Trench Art'
Well done personalization. I'm guessing this would be done on a non-official bayonet...maybe one already "liberated" from the arsenal or picked up in a market etc. Doubt you could get away with doing that on an issued bayonet.

Re: 1980's 'Trench Art'
I'm not into trench art or personalized item so did not pay much attention to this post on first look. On second look this scabbard is a real mystery. There has been previous discussion on the flat sided hilt loop studs under "Russia" - "unusal hanger on ak47". The hanger appears to me to be a reworked/replacement item. The scabbard is an early style with the two individual hanger brackets. What's weird is the point of the scabbard. It appears the flat spot welded flanges have been removed and end in an unusual tip.
